Off-Piste Skiing: The Grands Montets

SK 15.02 Off Piste Skiing Grands Montets 03 1500px.jpeg

Is This The Right Course For Me?

Les Grand Montets is situated above Argentière and with over 1,800 hectares, is the largest of the pisted skiing areas in the Chamonix valley. The upper skiing areas are on a glacier, currently only accessible by skinning up from the lower lifts, until the new lift opens later this year. There is huge amounts of off-piste skiing, and links can be made with other ski areas, for example you could ski from the top of the Grands Montets down to meet the Mer de Glace, and then with good snow conditions you can ski down to Chamonix, a vertical descent of 2300 metres!

The fitness level required depends on what you want to achieve, but as a minimum you will need fitness level 1. You will also need a minimum of ski ability level 2. Please see the Essential Information for Skiing page for fitness and skiing ability levels.

Please be aware that we often have to adjust an itinerary because of weather, snow conditions, fitness, lack of acclimatisation, etc.

What’s the maximum ratio?

1:6
