Winter Sun Rock Climbing in Spain

The Costa Blanca in southern Spain has been a favourite winter climbing destination for Brits for many years, and with good reason. It is Spain’s most developed and varied climbing area, and one of the best destinations anywhere for winter sun rock climbing, with a warm climate even in winter, and huge amounts of lovely limestone. It offers a bit of everything: roadside crags, sea cliffs, mountain crags, bolted routes and trad climbing, with climbs at all grades and all lengths. It is particularly good for lower and middle grades.

Is this the course for me?

You've done some indoor or outdoor climbing in the UK. You want to learn better technique or learn how to lead sport routes. Or maybe you’ve been stuck at the same grade for a while and want to progress on to something harder. Or perhaps you just want the luxury of being guided up long multi-pitch routes.

Fitness level & preparation

Fitness level 1: you exercise regularly though the week for short periods, and regularly do more, eg a half day walk in the hills at the weekend.

To get the most out of your time in Spain you should be aiming to be a regular visitor to your local climbing wall, once a week.
